Guidelines for Drinking Alcohol Safely
More stats about drinking alcohol safely. Many of us like a drink, this time, how much is considered a safe limit for ladies' bodies?
Again, I’ve put the recommended amounts here in normal language, as in glasses, shots and pints lingo. Yes there are loads of ladies who drink beer, it's cool if done in the right way!
Ladies Recommended Weekly Amounts
The recommended weekly amount for ladies is 14 units which is approximately:
Beer Drinkers
- 6 pints of normal strength beer at 4-5% alcohol
- 7 pints for weaker beers at 3 or 4%
- 5 pints of stronger beer at around 6%
If you only drink halves, double the above figures.
Wine Drinkers
If drinking with a normal 125ml glass of wine, these are the safe limits:
- 9-10 glasses per week of 12% content wine
For fortified wine, life port or sherry:
Using a 50ml measure as a basis.
- 14 measures per week at 20% alcohol content
Spirits Drinkers
On the basis of a small 25ml shot of vodka, gin, whisky, tequila, rum:
- 14 measures of a single shot of spirits
- 7 measures of doubles
Again, this doesn't mean you can safely down 14 shots and it's healthy! Easy now.
