Alcohol Guidelines for Drinking Safely

Many of us like a drink but what are the alcohol guidelines and how much is considered a safe weekly limit for ladies?

The recommended amounts or drinking limits are here in normal language, as in glasses, shots and pints lingo.

Yes there are loads of ladies who drink beer!

Ladies Recommended Weekly Amounts

The recommended alcohol limits per week for ladies is 14 units which is approximately:

If you're a lady beer drinker

- 6 pints of normal strength beer at 4-5% alcohol

- 7 pints for weaker beers at 3 or 4%

- 5 pints of stronger beer at around 6%

If you only drink halves, double the above figures.

Remember, these are the drinking limits per week, not per day!


Wine drinking ladies

If drinking with a normal 125ml glass of wine, these are the safe drinking limits:

- 9-10 glasses per week of 12% content wine

For fortified wine, life port or sherry:Using a 50ml measure as a basis.

- 14 measures per week at 20% alcohol content

Per week!


Spirits drinking ladies

On the basis of a small 25ml shot of vodka, gin, whisky, tequila, rum this is what the limit is per week:

- 14 measures of a single shot of spirits

- 7 measures of doubles

Again, this doesn't mean you can safely down 14 shots in one go and it's healthy! Easy now.
